Introduction
Ever since the arrival of the Coronavirus in March 2020, offline cubing competitions became impossible to organize due to the dangerous risks of the virus. Online cubing competitions became the new trend and even after offline competitions are back, online competitions still haven’t lost their popularity. This is because online competitions are easier to access and participate in. There are a lot of cities in India, and organizing a competition regularly in each city is not feasible. So, online competitions are the go-to type of competition for people in remote cities who cannot travel or don’t have time to do so. Obviously, online competitions do not have that precious cubing community interaction that offline competitions have, but they are a fun way to keep you in touch with cubing!
Online Competitions at Cubelelo
Our online competitions are held at our newly launched website events.cubelelo.com. There are a variety of different competitions held at this site. Ranging from regular competitions on Monday and Saturday, to monthly competitions like CSUL. There are also a LOT of other competitions that are organized on our website!
Rules
Obviously, online competitions are not official and your scores are not registered by the WCA. But, you can still maintain your profile and look at your previous scores on our website. Unlike official competitions, in which you must have an official WCA ID to compete, participating in Cubelelo online competitions requires you to have a unique CL ID (Cubelelo ID).
For the most part, official WCA rules must be followed. Everything ranging from puzzles, scrambles, and solves must be done with respect to WCA regulations.
Some rules like you should not touch the cube while starting and stopping the timer must be followed with your device as well. Every competitor must record their entire session, including scrambles, in clear quality. Results will not be verified without video proof. The videos are checked by Cubelelo, so make sure to follow the speedcubing spirit and NOT cheat!
Results
The results are usually verified and declared within 3 days of the event. If you break one or multiple rules, you can be disqualified at the discretion of Team Cubelelo. Again, these results have no relation to your WCA ID. These competitions are fun and entertaining and everyone can take part in them!
And the plus point about participating in these online competitions is that the winners get different kinds of prizes including cubes and discount coupons. Try participating, you might win!
Summing up
If you’re gonna participate using the events.cubelelo.com platform, make sure you look at the rules and regulations on the website! If you have any questions, refer to our FAQ, or reach out to us in the comments section of this blog! Happy cubing!
