The 5x5 speed cube, originally named as the Professor's Cube, was invented by Udo Krell in 1981! It was later manufactured and sold by Uwe Mèffert in 1983.

It consists of 5 layers and 98 cubic pieces, and it is solved using several variations of the reduction method. It is a very popular WCA nxn puzzle because it's the middle ground between big and small cubes.

7x7 cube is a large combinational puzzle which was invented by Panagiotis Verdes. The first manufacturer of the 7x7 speedcube was V-cube which was owned by the inventor himself. It has a total of 212 pieces.

The 6x6 is a twisty puzzle that is of a cube shape, with 3 axes. Each axes has 5 cuts along it, giving rise to 6 layers in total. It has a total of 96 center pieces, 48 edge pieces and 8 corner pieces.

History

The 6x6 cube was first brought into the market back in 2010 by V-Cube. Since then, it has been modified in terms of both mechanism as well as construction, notably by companies such as ShengShou (2011), MoYu, YuXin and QiYi.

These big cubes are of the order of 8x8 and up, all the way till the 13x13. The original bigger cubes were made by V-Cube, a puzzle brand, back in 2018, but we now have speed-optimised versions of these in this collection. Later, Shengshou introduced the design of bigger outer pieces, which has been the basis of most designs to come after.

All big cubes have 3 axes of rotation and a number of cuts (equal to one less than the order of the puzzle) along each axis that give them their layers.
